This past Monday, we were at the U.S. Supreme Court as they heard oral arguments for Whole Woman’s Health v. Jackson, our major lawsuit challenging Texas’ near-total abortion ban. The next day, Virginia became a target for similar attacks that could overturn years of progress made to expand abortion rights and access.
Tuesday night’s elections flipped seats for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General and the House of Delegates to politicians with anti-abortion agendas. We, along with our partners in the Virginia Reproductive Equity Alliance, are disappointed, but we remain steadfast.

Anxieties are high as we wait to see what Virginia lawmakers might do in 2022, as we also cope with the human rights crisis unfolding in Texas. It’s because of supporters like you that we are in this for the long haul.
Like you, we’re waiting and hopeful that SCOTUS will rule in favor of abortion providers and block Texas’s Senate Bill 8. We hope to have a decision before December 1st, when SCOTUS will hear oral arguments for Jackson Women’s Health Organization v. Dobbs, a case that directly challenges Roe v. Wade.
